Whoa, slow down there, partner! Let's take this one step at a time.
I routinely verify the links on my pages. As a matter of courtesy to
you, I just took the time to verify all 92 links that I have on my
Portland page. I found one of them had moved (and left a forwarding
address) - the Clinton Street Theater. I've updated my link. There were
two sites to which I could not connect, Portland Art Museum and Debbie
Thomas Real Estate. It may be that the servers on which those pages
exist are temporarily down. I'll check them again later. There were 89
sites I could visit.
As far as your 14.4 modem is concerned, you should have noticed that I
have commented links which are graphically intense so that people using
slow connections have some warning. If there are sites you could not
reach, then you may wish to consider that the problem is on your end. I
know that the earlier versions of AOL's browser were not 100% compliant
with the HTML specs. Their most recent version comes much closer. If
you don't have the current version, perhaps you should try it and see
if it solves your problems.
With regard to the sites you could reach being useless, (1) I am not
responsible for the content of other people's web sites, and (2) I have
numerous comments in my guestbook from people thanking me for
assembling such a useful collection of links.
Lastly, I'm sorry you "wasted your time" and didn't find what you were
after [see (1)], and I can understand how frustrating technology can be
at times (and AOL most of the time :-) - but I cannot understand why
you are so angry at me. This is not a business. I spend my own free
time accumulating and maintaining the links on my web pages. I pay for
my internet connection and do not charge anyone to visit my site.
regards,
Sandy
