A power outage took herring.org offline from 02:47PST to 04:38PST.

11 Dec 2005

A power outage due to an underground fault knocked herring.org offline at 16:10 PDT. Power was restored at 17:50. uptime had been 110 days *sigh*. At least this gave a reason to boot into the latest kernel.

herring.org was unreachable from Fri Dec 24 00:37:05 2004 until Sat Jan 1 18:00:50 2005 due to a router hang while I was out of town. My apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

My new wireless router/AP hung up, requiring a reboot - resulting in herring.org being unreachable today from around 11:20am until 6:10pm.

www.herring.org was off-line again *sigh* from approximately Mon Aug 12 11:15:37 PDT (-0700) 2002 ...to... Mon Aug 19 22:18:29 PDT (-0700) 2002 due to yet another power outage. I happened to be on vacation, so rebooting the web server had to await my return. Hopefully PGE is done screwing around.

www.herring.org was off-line from approximately Wed Jul 24 17:40:31 PDT (-0700) 2002 ...to... Sun Jul 28 23:10:04 PDT (-0700) 2002 due to a power outage and technical problems during the recovery. I took advantage of the unplanned downtime to upgrade to Red Hat 7.3, linux kernel 2.4.18-5 and Apache 1.3.23-14 web server. I don't believe anything has been lost. If you note any problems, I'd appreciate knowing about them. My apologies for any inconvenience the temporary absence of www.herring.org has caused you. It wasn't much fun for me, either!

Relocated herring.org to it's new home at... our house! It's running on a Pentium Pro 200 dual CPU box with 256Mb of RAM and 40Gb ATA100 drive, loaded with Red Hat 7.2, linux kernel 2.4.17 and Apache 1.3.22 web server.
Now that I don't need to worry about exceeding my disk quota, I'll be posting lots of new pictures of Elisha as time permits.

HERRING.ORG won its first award!!
Actually, the award was bestowed on 27 October, but I only recently found time to "sew" it on. The Neurology page was awarded the "Hardin MD Clean Bill of Health". The Speech Language Pathology page was subsequently accorded the same honor.

Ran linklint against entire site and updated, pruned or annotated all the linkrot it found (and it found lots)! Fantastic utility!! Added many new links in the process.
