My wife and I do not agree on the meaning of "next" (but we do agree on the meaning of "is" :-). For example, if on Monday I say, "Let's go out to dinner next Friday", I mean the Friday that is 4 days away. Liz construes that to signify a week from the coming Friday. And to confuse the issue further, if I ask her the same question on Saturday, then to her "next Friday" is this coming Friday *sigh*.

Please help us to settle this. How do you interpret "next" in the context of "next <insert day of week>"?
